Prayers of Praise and Abiding
Knowing God
God, please help me know you. I want to seek you like a treasure that is worth more than any wealth the world could offer. When everything else is gone, when the heavens fade, and the stars are no more, you will still remain. Everything is smoke, here today and gone tomorrow, except for you. Teach me how to know you and abide in you. Show me how to live in union with you in the midst of my daily life.
God my guide
Lord, you know everything. You know when I sit down and when I get up, and you see every part of my day. I can’t teach you anything, and there’s no point pretending or trying to hide from you. So help me be honest with you, simple and open, like a child. Help me let go of my worries, because you know the road I’m on. You’ve guided me through the challenges I have faced before, and you will do it again. I ask you to guide me today, give me your strength and wisdom, and help me become the person you created me to be.
Resting in God
God, you don’t need anything. You’re complete, lacking nothing. You don’t need me, yet you still come looking for me. I come to you because I truly need you. Help me live from complete trust: not trying to make you bigger or do works for you, but simply resting in who you already are.
The love of God
Father in heaven, I’m often unsettled inside. When I look at myself, I don’t see anything that could earn your love. But you’ve already shown your unchanging love for me in Jesus. Since your love doesn’t start with me, it doesn’t depend on me, and nothing can take it away. Your love is a gift I don’t deserve; it flows from who you are. I ask you to show me your love. Help me truly believe how deep and lasting your love is. Let your love push out my fear and quiet my heart. I’m not trusting in who I am, but in who you say you are.
The mercy of God
God, your wisdom fills me with admiration. Your power fills me with fear. How can I thank you enough for your mercy? You meet me in my lowest places, and you give me beauty for ashes, joy for morning, and you turn my heaviness into praise. I worship you and thank you for your mercy so abundantly on display in my life.
Safe place
Lord Jesus, you have been my safe home through every season of life. When I’m afraid, I run to you for safety; when my heart is restless, I come to you for peace. So much around me is always changing, but you don’t change. You are steady, faithful, and the same yesterday, today, and forever. Help me rest in you without fear or doubt, and help me face tomorrow without anxiety.
God with me
Father, I know you’re with me, but a lot of the time, you feel distant, more like an idea than something I truly experience. That leaves me missing the comfort and strength your presence is meant to bring. Please show me what needs to change in me so I can live more aware of you and experience the joy that comes from being close to you. Make my heart steady as I learn to walk with you each day.
God my healer
Father, thank you that you have healed me and restored me in the places of my wounding because it’s who you are. I surrender my pain, fear, and doubt to you. I give you the negative words that have been spoken over me and I ask you to heal me again. Take away my shame and give me identity, take my fear and give me your courage, take my weakness and give me strength, take my doubt and give me confidence in you.
Provider
God, you have provided abundantly for me. When I didn’t deserve it, you blessed me. When I was in need and desperate, you showed up and gave me everything I needed. I have seen your faithful provision in every season. Thank you that you are trustworthy and always will be. Help me to confidently put my full trust in you and your abundant provision. Forgive me for questioning your faithfulness.
